Oil Pump Replacement
Removal Procedure^ Tools Required
- J35271 Flywheel Holder
- J34853 Crankshaft Oil Seal Guide
1. Remove the engine oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement.
2. Remove the engine timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement.
3. Remove the oil level indicator from the guide tube.
4. Remove the 2 bolts (2) and the guide tube (1) with the O-ring from the oil pump.
5. Use a J35271 on the flywheel (1) in order to lock the crankshaft.
6. Remove the crankshaft timing belt gear bolt (1).
7. Remove the crankshaft timing belt gear (2).
8. Remove the following from the cylinder block:
^ The 7 oil pump assembly bolts
^ The oil pump assembly (1)
^ The gasket
^ The rubber oil pump-to-coolant pump seals
^ The 2 guide pins
9. Clean the following assemblies:
^ The cylinder block
^ The oil pump
^ The oil pan mating surfaces
Installation Procedure

1. Apply a thin coat of oil to the J34353.
2. Use the J34853 in order to install the oil seal over the crankshaft.
3. Slide the oil pump assembly into position on the cylinder block.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Secure the oil pump assembly with the 7 bolts (1, 2).
^ Tighten the oil pump bolts to 11 Nm (97 inch lbs.).
5. Inspect the oil seal lip to ensure the oil seal lip is not upturned.
6. Remove the J34853.
7. Install the crankshaft timing belt gear (2). Secure the timing belt gear with 1 bolt (1).
^ Tighten the crankshaft timing belt gear to 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.).
8. Remove the J35271 from the flywheel.
9. Install the guide tube (1) with a new O-ring and the oil level indicator to the cylinder block. Secure the guide tube with a new O-ring and the oil level indicator with 2 bolts.
^ Tighten the guide tube bolts to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the engine timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement.
11. Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement.
12. Refill the engine oil according to the specifications. Refer to Capacities-Approximate Fluid.
13. Check the oil pressure upon completion of the installation.
