Glow Plug Relay With California Emissions

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cables.
2. Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield using the following procedure:
2.1. Remove the retaining bolt in the front of the shield.
2.2. Lift up on the front of the shield.
2.3. Lift the shield off the rear bracket.




3. Remove the battery supply wiring harness nut (1) and harness connector from the glow plug controller battery voltage supply post.
4. Remove the glow plug wiring harness connectors (2) from the glow plug controller (3).
5. Remove the glow plug controller mounting bolt (6) from the mounting bracket (4).
6. Remove the glow plug controller (3) from the mounting bracket (4).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the glow plug controller (3) on the mounting bracket (4).

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Install the glow plug controller mounting bolt (6).

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

3. Install the wiring harness connectors (2) to the controller (3).
4. Install the battery supply wiring harness connector and nut (1) on the glow plug controller.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 5 N.m (44 lb in).




5. Install the upper intake manifold sight shield.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

6. Connect the negative battery cable(s).
