Instrument Panel (IP) - Trim Pad Replacement - Upper



Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Set the air flow control to the instrument panel (IP) vent position if equipped with air conditioning (A/C).
2. Apply the parking brake to prevent the vehicle from moving.
3. Move the shift lever all the way down (if the transmission is automatic).
4. Tilt the steering wheel to the full down position.
5. Remove the IP cluster trim plate bezel.




6. Remove the end panels. Left is shown, right is similar.
7. Remove the right side air outlets.




8. Remove the assist handle by depressing the release tabs accessed through the air outlet duct holes.
9. Remove the windshield pillar garnish moldings.
10. Remove the bolts retaining the pad to IP assembly.




11. Left the trim pad up to disconnect the electrical connector (1) to the ambient light sensor on the underside of the trim pad.




12. Remove the trim pad from the assembly.

Installation Procedure




1. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the ambient light sensor on the underside of the trim pad.




2. Install the trim pad to the IP assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the trim pad retaining screws.

Tighten the trim pad retaining screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

4. Install the windshield pillar garnish moldings.




5. Align the assist handle with the holes in the IP assembly. Push the handle in order to engage the retaining tabs.
6. Install the right side air outlets.




7. Install the end panels. Left is shown, right is similar.
8. Install the IP cluster trim plate bezel.
9. Tilt the steering wheel to the normal driving position.
10. If the transmission is automatic, move the shift lever to the park position.
11. Disengage the parking brake.
