51. Crankshaft and Bearings Removal

Crankshaft and Bearings Removal





1. Remove the oil pressure sensor (1).
2. Remove the oil pressure sensor adapter bolt (2).
3. Remove the oil pressure sensor adapter (4) and washers (3).





4. Measure crankshaft end play using a dial indicator. The production value is 0.04 - 0.205 mm (0.0016 - 0.0081 inch) and the service limit is 0.54 mm (0.0213 inch). Replace the thrust bearings upon reassembly if the measured value exceeds the service limit.





5. Remove the crankshaft bearing cap side bolts.
6. Remove the crankshaft bearing cap bolts.
7. Set the bolts aside for use in plastic gauging if needed. New bolts will be used for final assembly.
8. Remove the crankshaft assembly.
9. Remove the crankshaft bearings from the engine block and the bearing caps.
10. Mark crankshaft bearings and caps so they may be installed in their original position.
