Fuel Injector Control Module: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
1. Disconnect the batteries.
2. Remove the air cleaner intake duct.
3. Remove the clamp (2) from the PCV hose (1) to PCV oil catch and move the hose aside.
4. Remove the fuel filler cap to relieve pressure.
5. Remove the large tie wraps from the fuel injector control module (6) and harness.
6. Loosen the fuel lines (3) at the fuel injection control module (6).
7. Remove the 3 mounting bolts (1,5).
8. Carefully remove the insulators (2) between the fuel injection control module and bracket by lifting up the module and reaching underneath.
IMPORTANT: Do not break off the tab on the connector
9. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors (2) from the fuel injection control module (1).
10. Disconnect the fuel lines (2) at the fuel injection control module (1) and discard washers.
11. Remove the fuel injection control module (1) from the bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to knock off the insulators when installing the fuel injector control module to the bracket.
1. Install the fuel injection control module insulators (2) to the fuel injector control module (6).
2. Install the fuel injection control module with mounting insulators.
3. Install by hand the eyebolts and fuel lines (2) with new washers to the fuel injector control module (1).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the fuel injection control module mounting bolts (1,5).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel injection control module mounting bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
5. Connect the fuel injection control module connectors (2) to the fuel injection control module (1).
6. Tighten the eye bolts (4) to the fuel injection control module (6).
Tighten
Tighten the eye bolts to 35 N.m (26 lb ft).
7. Install the PCV hose (1) and the clamp (2) on the PCV oil catch.
8. Install the air cleaner intake duct.
9. Install the fuel filler cap.
10. Reconnect the batteries.
11. Depress the fuel manager primer button 30 times.
12. Start the engine. If the engine stalls, repeat steps 10 and 11.
13. Check for leaks.
