32. Timing Chain and Sprocket Clean and Inspect
Timing Chain and Sprockets Cleaning and Inspection1. Inspect the timing chain guides for cracking or wear.
2. Replace the timing chain guides if wear exceeds 1.0 mm (0.039 inch).
3. Inspect the camshaft and crankshaft timing chains for elongation wear.
4. Inspect the camshaft sprocket teeth for signs of excessive wear, chipping (2), or seizure of the timing chain links.
5. Inspect the crankshaft sprocket for wear.
6. Inspect the camshaft tensioner for wear. The plunger movement should be firm and smooth when pressed inward.
7. Inspect the crankshaft tensioner for wear. Inspect that the latch teeth are not damaged and that the latch functions properly.
8. Replace any component that shows signs of wear or damage.
