117. Output Nut Installation
Output Nut Installation - 4WDTools Required
^ J43769 Spanner Nut Wrench-4WD
1. The fullest clockwise position of the selector shaft is P (Park), which engages the park pawl.
2. Using a wrench on selector shaft flats (1), rotate the shaft to its fullest clockwise position.
3. Make sure the park pawl is engaged.
4. Install J43769 (1) onto output nut (2).
Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Lightening Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Using J43769 (1), install a new output nut (2) onto output shaft (3).
Tighten output nut (2) to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.).
Important: The N (Neutral) position of the selector shaft is two detent positions counterclockwise from the fullest clockwise position.
6. Using a wrench on selector shaft flats (1) rotate the shaft to its fullest clockwise position.
7. Rotate the selector shaft counterclockwise two detent positions.
8. Make sure the park pawl is disengaged
