Rear Wheel Steering Option



Rear Wheel Steering Tie Rod End Replacement - Inner

^ Tools Required
- J 44665-2 Inner Tie Rod Wrench
- J 44665-1 Inner Tie Rod Wrench

Removal Procedure

1. Notice: Refer to Rear Wheel Steering Lifting and Jacking Notice in Service Precautions.

Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel.
3. Remove the rack and pinion boot from the steering gear.





4. Important: The inner tie rod support clamp has right hand threads. The inner tie rod support nut has left hand threads. To remove the support clamp turn the clamp counterclockwise.

Using the J 44665-1 (1) and J 44665-2 (2) remove the inner tie rod support clamp.





5. Remove the inner tie rod (1) from the steering gear using the J 44665-2 (2) .

Installation Procedure
1. Install the inner tie rod to the steering gear.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Using the J 44665-2 (2) tighten the inner tie rod (1).
^ Tighten the inner tie rod to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).





3. Install the inner tie rod support clamp to the steering gear. Use the J 44665-1 (1) and the J 44665-2 (2) in order to tighten the inner tie rod support clamp.
^ Tighten the inner tie rod support clamp to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the rack and pinion boot to the steering gear.
5. Install the tire and wheel.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Perform a four wheel alignment.
