Doors
DTC 023
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The rear side door actuator control module uses the power sliding door detent switch to determine when the door is latched, ajar, or open. The power sliding door detent switch is part of the sliding door rear latch assembly. The detent switch signal circuit is supplied 12 volts through a resistor within the module. When the power sliding door is open and the door switch plate plungers have made contact with the B-pillar switch plate pads, the detent switch signal circuit is pulled to ground. When the door latch makes contact with the striker and the latch moves to the ajar position, the detent switch signal circuit opens. As the door latch passes from the ajar position to the latched position the detent switch signal circuit is briefly pulled to ground.
DTC DESCRIPTOR
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC 023 Detent Switch Signal Inactive While Door Latching or Unlatching
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The rear side door actuator control module does not detect the detent switch signal pulled low between the primary latched and ajar positions while attempting to power open or close.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The rear side door actuator control module sets DTC 023.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
All stored DTCs are cleared whenever the on-board diagnostic modes are exited.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
Inspect the door lock switch plate plungers and pads for the following conditions:
- Proper door plunger operation.
- Clean electrical contact from the door plungers to the B-pillar contacts.
- Proper alignment of the door plungers to the B-pillar contacts.
TEST DESCRIPTION
Steps 1 - 14:
Steps 15 - 16:
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. Tests for a short to ground in the detent switch circuit from the B-pillar to the module.
3. Tests the detent switch open position for continuity to ground.
4. Tests the detent switch ajar position.
5. Tests the detent switch for continuity to ground between the ajar and latch positions.
7. Tests the detent switch signal circuit from the B-pillar to the module for continuity.
