Steering Wheel Module Replacement

Preliminary Procedure:
Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling. Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming

Procedure:
1. On the back side of the steering wheel are 4 triangular holes, two on each side.
2. Use the J44298 to release the SIR module retention springs at 2 point simultaneously by pushing inward. Repeat the step for the other side.
3. Release the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
5. After removal, fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period.
