Latch Release Cable Replacement RT/LT - Rear Compartment Lid

Removal Procedure

Left side shown, right side similar.

1. Open the rear compartment lid.
2. Lower the endgate.




3. Remove the lock cylinder latch plate cover. Refer to Lock Cylinder Latch Plate Cover Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Lock Cylinder Latch Plate Cover Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid) .
4. Release the cable adjusters. Refer to Latch Release Cable Adjustment RT/LT - Rear Compartment Lid (Adjustments) .




5. Remove the left/right side rear compartment lid latch fasteners.




6. Pull the rear compartment lid latch away from the vehicle.




7. Disconnect the latch release cable from the rear compartment lid latch.
8. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
9. Pull the latch release cable downward to disengage the cable from the body.





Important: Note the routing of the cable during the disassembly for reassembly.


10. Disconnect the latch release cable (1) from the lock cylinder latch plate.
11. Remove the latch cable from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure


Important: Route the cable the same way the original cable was routed for proper operation.


1. Install the cable to the vehicle.




2. Connect the latch release cable (1) to the lock cylinder latch plate.
3. Route the latch cable up to the latch.




4. Connect the latch cable to the rear compartment lid latch.




5. Install the rear compartment lid latch to the body.





Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Install the rear compartment lid latch fasteners.

Tighten the lid latch fasteners to 10 N.m (88 lb in).

7. Set the latch cable adjustment. Refer to Latch Release Cable Adjustment RT/LT - Rear Compartment Lid (Adjustments) .
8. Install the lock cylinder latch plate cover. Refer to Lock Cylinder Latch Plate Cover Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid (Lock Cylinder Latch Plate Cover Replacement - Rear Compartment Lid) .
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Close the rear compartment lid.
11. Close the endgate.
