Battery Positive Cable Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the carpet. Refer to Floor Panel Carpet Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the spare tire.
5. Remove the spare tire insulator.
6. Open the positive battery cable cover (2).
7. Loosen the positive battery cable nut (1).
8. Remove the positive battery cable from the battery.
9. Remove the positive battery cable clips (3, 4) from the studs.
10. Disconnect the body harness electrical connector (2) from the positive battery cable connector.
11. Remove the positive battery cable clips (1, 2) from the rear compartment panel studs.
12. Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the clips (3) on the body harness.
13. Remove the positive battery cable clips (1) from the floor panel studs.
14. Disengage the driver side upper metal clip (1) securing the sound barrier to the dash panel.
15. Disengage the driver side only retainer (2) securing the sound barrier to the dash panel.
16. Reposition the driver side of the dash panel sound barrier until the positive battery cable is accessible.
17. Remove the positive battery cable (3) from the clips (1) on the body harness.
18. Remove the rubber grommet (2) from the front of dash.
19. Open the junction block terminal cover.
20. Remove the junction block terminal nut (1).
21. Remove the positive/negative battery cable terminal (2) from the stud.
22. Remove the positive battery cable terminal (1) from the junction block stud.
23. Remove the positive battery cable clips (2) from the engine control module (ECM)/transaxle control module (TCM) bracket.
24. Remove the positive battery cable from the body harness clip (4).
25. From inside the vehicle, remove the engine compartment portion of the positive battery cable through the front of dash.
26. Remove the positive battery cable from inside the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the positive battery cable to the inside the vehicle.
2. From inside the vehicle, route the engine compartment portion of the positive battery cable through the front of dash.
3. Install the positive battery cable to the body harness clip (4).
4. Install the positive battery cable clips (2) to the ECM/TCM bracket.
5. Install the positive battery cable terminal (1) to the junction block stud.
6. Install the positive/negative battery cable terminal (2) to the stud.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
7. Install the junction block terminal nut (1).
Tighten the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
8. Close the junction block terminal cover.
9. Install the rubber grommet (2) to the front of dash.
10. Install the positive battery cable (3) to the clips (1) on the body harness.
11. Position the driver side of the dash panel sound barrier. Ensure to tuck the barrier up and around the instrument panel mounting bracket.
12. Engage the drive side only fastener (2) onto the weld stud and actuate the fastener securing the sound barrier to the dash panel.
13. Engage the driver side upper metal clip (1) securing the sound barrier to the dash panel.
14. Install the positive battery cable clips (1) to the floor panel studs.
15. Install the positive battery cable (2) to the clips (3) on the body harness.
16. Install the positive battery cable clips (1, 2) to the rear compartment panel studs.
17. Connect the body harness electrical connector (2) to the positive battery cable connector.
18. Install the positive battery cable clips (3, 4) to the studs.
19. Install the positive battery cable from the battery.
20. Tighten the positive battery cable nut (1).
Tighten the nut to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
21. Close the positive battery cable cover (2).
22. Install the spare tire insulator.
23. Install the spare tire.
24. Install the instrument panel tie bar. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Service and Repair) .
25. Install the carpet. Refer to Floor Panel Carpet Replacement (Service and Repair) .
26. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
