DTC Descriptor
DTC P0563
- System Voltage High
Circuit/System Description
The hybrid powertrain control module continuously monitors the system voltage on the Ignition voltage circuits. The hybrid powertrain control module is located within the drive motor generator power inverter module and is not serviced separately. A higher than normal voltage may cause the control module or sensors to operate improperly.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The ignition is ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The hybrid powertrain control module detects system voltage is greater than 18 V for 5 out of 6 seconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
DTC P0563 is a Type C DTC.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTC P0563 is a Type C DTC.
Diagnostic Aids
* Observe the driver information center messaging that would indicate the electrical system requires service.
* A battery charger may have set this DTC.

Circuit/System Verification
Engine running, accessories OFF, observe the scan tool hybrid powertrain control module ignition voltage parameter. The reading should be less than 15.5 V.
If not within the specified value, or the Charge Indicator light is ON, go to DC Power Conversion Test DC Power Conversion Test.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, remove the F103 drive motor generator control module sight shield. Refer to Drive Motor Generator Control Module Sight Shield Replacement Drive Motor Generator Control Module Sight Shield Replacement.
2. Disconnect the T6 drive motor generator power inverter module X1 connector.
3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the control module voltage circuit terminal 20 and ground.
• If the test lamp illuminates, replace the T6 drive motor generator power inverter module.
4. Inspect for an external condition that may have caused a high 12 V circuit condition such as a battery charger.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification Verification Tests after completing the diagnostic procedure.
