Rear Brake Hose Replacement (To Axle - J95, J96 with JL4)

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Warning Brake Fluid Irritant Warning.


1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.




2. Disconnect the right front rear brake pipe fitting (1).
3. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
4. Disconnect the left front rear brake pipe fitting (1).
5. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.




6. Remove the brake hose bracket bolt (1).




7. Disconnect the left rear brake pipe fitting (1).
8. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.
9. Disconnect the right rear brake pipe fitting (2).
10. Cap the brake pipe fitting to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.




11. Remove the rear brake hose bracket nuts (1).
12. Remove the rear brake hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the rear brake hose to the vehicle.





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the rear brake hose bracket nuts (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




3. Connect the left rear brake pipe fitting (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
4. Connect the right rear brake pipe fitting (2) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




5. Install the brake hose bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).




6. Connect the right front rear brake pipe fitting (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
7. Connect the left front rear brake pipe fitting (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
8. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual)Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure).
