DTC Descriptor
DTC P0A8D
- 14 Volt Power Module System Voltage Low
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The accessory DC power module continuously monitors its 14-volt circuit during charge or jump assist. This DTC sets when the 14-volt circuit in the accessory DC power module drops below a set level. Accessory DC power module functions will run only when an accessory DC power module enable message from the hybrid powertrain control module is active on the serial data circuit.
Conditions for Running the DTC
Accessory DC power control module is charging or in Jump Assist.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
14-volt circuit less than 10.0 V during charge or Jump Assist.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
* DTC P0A8D is a Type C DTC.
* The engine control module (ECM) will command the charge indicator and or warning message to be illuminated on the instrument panel cluster and the driver information center, if equipped.
* The accessory DC power control module will shutdown 14-volt conversions.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
DTC P0A8D is a Type C DTC.
Diagnostic Aids
* A charging system malfunction may cause variances in system voltage and set voltage related DTCs. Refer to DC Power Conversion Test DC Power Conversion Test.
* A poor ground connection between the Accessory DC Power Control Module and chassis ground may result in excess current passing through the 42-volt ground circuit connector X2 terminal 2 from the electric power steering circuit resulting in DTC P0A8D.

Circuit/System Verification
Perform DC Power Conversion Test DC Power Conversion Test before performing Circuit/System Testing.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X3 14-volt harness connector and the X2 42-volt harness connector at the K1 accessory DC power control module. Make sure neither harness connector contacts chassis ground.
2. Test for less than 1.0 ohm between the K1 accessory DC power control module and chassis ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminals listed below and ground:
* Connector X3 Terminal A
* Connector X1 Terminal 3
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.
4. If all circuits test normal, replace the K1 accessory DC power control module.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification Verification Tests after completing the diagnostic procedure.
