DTC Descriptor
DTC P0A8E
- 14 Volt Power Module System Voltage High

Circuit/System Description

The accessory DC power module continuously monitors its 14 volt circuit during charge or jump assist. This DTC sets when the 14 volt circuit in the accessory DC power control module rises above a set level. Accessory DC power control module functions will run only when an accessory DC power control module enable message from the hybrid powertrain control module is active on the serial data circuit.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Accessory DC power control module is charging or in Jump Assist.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

* 14 volt circuit is more than 16.5 V while charging.
* 14 volt circuit is more than 16.0 V in Jump-Assist.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

* DTC P0A8E is a Type C DTC.
* The accessory DC power control module will shutdown charging or Jump Assist.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* 14 volt circuit is below 16.3 V while charging.
* 14 volt circuit is below 15.8 V in Jump-Assist.

Diagnostic Aids

* A possible cause of this DTC could be overcharging with a battery charger or jump starting.
* A high voltage value in multiple modules indicates a concern in the charging system.

Circuit/System Verification

Engine Running, accessories OFF, measure and record the battery voltage at the battery terminals. The voltage should be between 12.6-15.0 volts.

If not within the specified range, refer to DC Power Conversion Test DC Power Conversion Test.

Circuit/System Testing

Ignition ON, command the K1 accessory DC power control module set point control UP and DOWN with a scan tool. Observe the 12 V battery voltage with a DMM. The 12 V battery voltage should follow the voltage set point command.

If the voltage is not the specified value, replace the K1 accessory DC power control module.
