1. Remove wiper motor wire connector, then clean terminals. Reconnect connector, then test motor operation. If problem persists, proceed as follows.
2. Place wiper switch in Off position, then disconnect motor wiring connector.
3. Connect a voltmeter between terminals P1 and L on 1983-89 models and terminal 2 and ground strap on 1990-92 models.
4. On 1988-89 models, if a reading of 12 volts is obtained, check voltage at terminal P2. If voltage at terminal P2 is zero, motor is defective. If there is 12 volts at terminal P2, there is an open circuit in wiper switch or wiring.
5. On 1990-92 models, if voltage is present, connect an ohmmeter between terminals 3 or L and 1 or P2.
6. If continuity is indicated between these terminals, replace defective motor assembly.
7. If no continuity is indicated, repair open circuit in wiper control switch or wiring harness.
