Installation
1. Clean and inspect all parts. Replace worn or damaged components.2. Using seal installation tool No. MD998334 or equivalent, install new seal. Seal should be flush with outer edge of housing.
3. Install rear torque shaft bearing and snap ring.
4. Install clutch case on torque tube, torque attaching bolts to 250 inch lbs.
5. Install torque shaft snap ring.
6. Install outer overrunning clutch race and snap ring, then spacers and snap ring. The overrunning clutch may be installed backwards.
7. Temporarily install overrunning clutch inner race, tapered end first. Inner race should spin when turned counterclockwise and grab when turned clockwise.
8. Install dog clutch and snap ring.
9. Install overrunning clutch with tapered end facing outward, then install snap ring.
10. Apply bead of Mopar Gasket Maker part No. 4318083, Loctite Gasket Eliminator No. 518 or equivalent and install overrunning clutch case to rear carrier assembly. Torque attaching bolts to 250 inch lbs.
11. Apply bead of Mopar Gasket Maker part No. 4318083, Loctite Gasket Eliminator No. 518 or equivalent and install overrunning clutch cover, ensuring clutch fork engages into clutch dog. Torque cover attaching bolts to 250 inch lbs.
12. Check and fill fluid levels as required. Use only Mopar Type 7176 automatic transmission fluid or equivalent in overrunning clutch housing.
