Rear Axle

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove rear wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove hub cotter pin, locknut and spring washer, then the hub nut and washer.
4. The halfshaft outer CV joint, when installed, serves as a bolt and attaches hub/bearing assembly. If vehicle is to be supported or moved on its wheels, install a bolt through hub to ensure hub/bearing assembly will not loosen.
5. Remove inner shaft attaching bolts.
6. Compress inner halfshaft joint slightly, then pull downward to clear differential. Pull halfshaft assembly outward to remove.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Tighten inner shaft to carrier attaching bolts to specifications.
b. Tighten rear brake assembly and spindle attaching bolt to specifications. Tighten wheel lug nuts to specifications.
