Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Repair Procedure 1

1. Check the sliding door fit and adjust as necessary using the procedures outlined starting on page 2366 of the 1996 Town & Country, Caravan and Voyager Service Manual Supplement (Publication No. 81-370-6105A).

2. If working with the driver side sliding door, check the fuel filler door blocker striker pin alignment. Some vehicles have an adjustable fuel filler door blocker striker pin that can be adjusted by loosening the attaching screws and repositioning the striker pin as necessary and then tightening the attaching screws.

On vehicles with non-adjustable fuel filler door blocker striker pins (vehicles built after Feb. 12, 1996 MDH 0212XX), it is necessary to adjust the sliding door.

Open the sliding door with the outside handle to determine if it functions properly, if it doesn't continue to step 3.

3. Check the latch striker alignment and adjust if necessary. Open the sliding door with the outside handle to determine if it functions properly, if it doesn't continue to step 4.

4. Remove the door half of the sliding door stabilizers. Close then open the sliding door with the outside handle to determine if it functions properly, if it doesn't one of the previous steps has not been performed properly. If the door does open properly continue to step 5.

5. If the body half of the sliding door stabilizers are flocked (fuzzy surface) replace them with P/N 4717375.

6. Install the door half of the sliding door stabilizers. Loose torque (finger tight) the screws and close the sliding door. Open the door and torque the screws to 40 - 60 in. lbs. (5-6 Nm).
