Suspension: Service and Repair

Fig. 3 Rear Axle & Suspension Assembly (FWD):

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheel and tire assemblies.
2. Remove brake assemblies and ABS sensors.
3. Support axle with suitable jack, then remove shock absorber lower bolts.
If bolts deflect upward during removal, raise axle by adjusting jack. If bolts deflect downward during removal, lower axle by adjusting jack.
4. Remove track bar bolt and nut, then remove leaf spring mounting pad bolts.
5. Lower axle assembly from vehicle.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install track bar nut and bolt finger tight. Do not tighten fully until vehicle is lowered and full vehicle weight is applied to rear axle.
b. Tighten to specifications.
