EMISSIONS RECALL TO REPLACE YOUR VEHICLE'S VECI LABEL

Dear Chrysler Minivan Owner:

An incorrect Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label was installed on your 1998 Dodge Caravan, Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country all wheel drive (AWD) minivan which is equipped with a 3.8L engine.

The problem is...

The VECI label on your minivan (identified on the enclosed form), describes the wrong emission control system information (i.e. California instead of Federal, or vice versa). This could cause your vehicle to fail a state emission inspection test.

What you must do...

^ We ask that you apply the enclosed label so that it covers the existing incorrect label. The label is located in the engine compartment on the right (passenger) side strut (shock) tower. To assure good adhesion, wipe off the existing label before applying the new label.

^ If you prefer not to install the label yourself, simply contact your dealer to schedule a service appointment. The label installation will only take a few minutes, however, additional time may be necessary depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed. This service will be provided free of charge. Please bring the enclosed label and Owner Notification Form with you to your dealer. The form identifies the vehicle and explains the required service to your dealer.

If you need help...

If you have trouble getting your vehicle repaired, please call the Chrysler Customer Center, toll free, at 1-800-992-1997. A representative will assist you in getting your vehicle repaired.

We're sorry for any inconvenience, however we believe this correction is essential to help ensure that your vehicle will meet state inspection program requirements. Thanks for your attention to this important matter.
