Fuel Pump Pickup Filter: Description and Operation

The inlet strainer is part of the fuel pump module (Fig. 1). The inlet strainer is a serviceable item.

The inlet strainer serves to filter large particles from the fuel as is it drawn through the fuel pump and fed through the fuel filter to the engine.
