Accessory Drive Belt

DESCRIPTION
The accessory drive system can utilizes two different style of drive belts; a conventional V-belt (some models) and the Poly-V belt. Satisfactory performance of these belts depends on belt condition and proper belt tension.

OPERATION
The accessory drive belts are the link between the engine crankshaft and the engine driven accessories.
A single Poly-V belt is used to drive the generator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump and water pump (3.3/3.8L engine). Two Poly-V belts drive the accessories on models equipped with a 2.4L engine. A V-belt is used to drive the air conditioning compressor on models equipped with a 3.0L engine.
