DISCUSSION:
Many of the 2001 model year RKE systems have changed internally (data format). The physical look and function is very similar to prior models however, the changes in the data format has created a major change in the transmitter programming procedure.
PROPER RKE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING REQUIRES:
1. The DRB III(R) operating with 50.6 software or higher.
2. Only the transmitter part number specified for the model year should be used.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.
NOTE:
ALL TRANSMITTERS (NEW & EXISTING) MUST BE PROGRAMMED AT THE SAME TIME. IF ONLY ONE TRANSMITTER IS PROGRAMMED, ALL OTHER TRANSMITTERS WILL BE ERASED FROM THE BODY CONTROL MODULE/CENTRAL TIMER MODULE/REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY RECEIVER MODULE MEMORY.
1. With the DRB III(R) in the programming mode, on any transmitter press the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously - then release to send initial data. Then press and release either the lock or unlock button to complete programing the transmitter.
2. Perform procedure on any remaining transmitters. The chime will sound as each transmitter is programmed.
