Instrument Panel - Rattle From Hood Hinge

NUMBER: 23-001-01

GROUP: Body

DATE: Jan. 26, 2001

SUBJECT:
Instrument Panel/Hood Hinge Rattle

OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves installing revised hood hinge bushings.

MODELS:
2001 (RS) Town & Country/Voyager/Caravan
2001 (RG) Chrysler Voyager (International Markets)

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The hood hinge bushings of some 2001 minivans may have excessive clearance that creates a rattle sound when a subject vehicle is driven over a rough road. This rattle sound, when first heard, would most likely be misdiagnosed as an instrument panel rattle near the base of the "A"-pillar.

DIAGNOSIS/REPAIR PROCEDURES:

Sharply hit the rear corners of the hood with the palm of your hand. If a rattle sound is heard, the hood hinge bushings are the cause of the sound. This condition may exist on one or both sides of the hood.
