Tumble Assist Feature Inoperative on Quad or Split Rear Bench Seats
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a new seat counter balance spring and push nut.
MODELS:
2001 - 2002 (RS) Town & Country/Caravan/Voyager
2001 - 2002 (RG) Chrysler Voyager (International Markets)
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Quad or split bench seat tumble assist feature may be inoperative.
DIAGNOSIS:
Manually tumble seat forward and check the seat track assembly to verify that both counter balance springs are mounted on their shafts. If one or both counter balance springs are off their shafts, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the seat and place upside-down on a clean surface with the seat riser facing up.
2. Install the seat counter balance spring onto the shaft until it is completely in the slot.
3. Use locking pliers to wrap the spring around the mounting tab (Fig. 1).
4. Use a hammer to tap the spring downward toward the mounting bracket.
5. Align the tabs on the push nut to the slot on the spring shaft and use a hammer to install the counter balance spring push nut (Fig. 2).
