PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

THIS REPAIR IS COMPATIBLE WITH DAIMLERCHRYSLER'S MOBILE SERVICE PROGRAM AND DOES NOT REQUIRE HOISTS OR OTHER FULL SERVICE FACILITY SPECIAL EQUIPMENT.

Procedure A:

1. Insert a blunt non-metallic tool into the side rail slot at the rear of the front side rail end cover and gently pry up until the cover snaps disengage. Repeat for the other front side rail end cover (Fig. 1).

2. Rotate the loose end of the front side rail end covers inboard (Fig. 2).

3. Press the crossbar stanchion lock lever to disengage the crossbar lock from the side rail (Fig. 3). Repeat for the other side.

4. Working from side to side, slide the front crossbar toward the front of the vehicle keeping the crossbar close to perpendicular with the side rails. Continue moving the crossbar until it is disengaged from the side rails. Repeat for the rear crossbar.

NOTE:
NO TOOLS ARE REQUIRED TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE CROSSBARS TO THE SIDE RAILS.

5. Place the end stanchions of a revised crossbar onto the side rails where the end covers have been moved from.

NOTE:
THE ARROWS OF THE LABEL (ALSO STAMPED INTO THE BOTTOM SURFACE) ON CROSSBARS MUST POINT TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE.

6. Slide the cross bar rearward guiding the stanchions into the opening of the side rails, the stanchion clamp will engage the side rail flange (Fig. 4).

7. Working from side to side, slide the crossbar toward the rear of the vehicle keeping it close to perpendicular with the side rails. Continue moving the crossbar until it is approximately 18 in. from the rear end of the side rails and the crossbar aligns with the engagement slots at that position (Fig. 5).

8. Slide the crossbar until it engages the slots, then press the stanchion levers to the lock position.

9. Using the same procedure install the front crossbar. Continue moving the crossbar until it is approximately 18 in. from the front end of the side rails and aligns with the engagement slots at that position

10. Slide the crossbar until it engages the slots, then press the stanchion levers to the lock position.

11. Rotate the side rail end covers to their original position and gently press down until snapped in place.

**Procedure B

1. Use a suitable tool to pry the rub strip off the front roof rack crossbar.

2. Place the new rub strip into position onto the crossbar. Start at one end and apply downward pressure to the rub strip ensuring the rub strip notch is fully inserted into the crossbar groove.

3. Perform steps one and two to replace the rub strip on the rear crossbar.

4. Adjust crossbars to the proper position (Fig. 5).**
