Service Procedure

1. Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.

NOTE:
Place an adjustable jack stand under the transaxle and then raise the transaxle slightly to allow clearance for bolt removal and installation.





2. Remove and discard the right lower control arm pivot bolt and nut (Figure 1).

3. Install a new right lower control arm pivot bolt and nut (Figure 1). Do NOT tighten.

NOTE:
Bolt P/N 06504593 is shorter than P/N 06507506AA. However, either of the above bolts is acceptable for this repair.

4. Remove and discard the left lower control arm pivot bolt and nut.

5. Install a new left lower control arm pivot bolt and nut. Do NOT tighten.

6. Position jack stands under the lower control arms as close to the ball joints as possible. Lower the vehicle onto the jack stands until the jack stands are supporting the weight of the vehicle.

7. Tighten the lower control arm pivot bolts to 135 ft-lbs (183 N.m).

IMPORTANT:
The lower control arm pivot bolts MUST be tightened with the vehicle suspension at ride height and the full weight of the vehicle on the suspension. Do NOT use an impact wrench to tighten the lower control arm pivot bolts.

8. Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle.

9. Place the vehicle on a front-end alignment rack. Install the wheel alignment equipment onto the vehicle per alignment equipment manufacturer's instructions. Adjust the vehicle's front wheel total toe-in settings to +0.10 degrees +/- 0.20 degrees.
