Console: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Block the tire and wheels so the vehicle does not move once the vehicle parking brake lever is released.
2. Remove the transmission shift knob if vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission.
3. Place parking brake lever in full OFF position.
4. Remove screws attaching center console.
5. Remove rear switch panel from center console.
6. Working through switch opening, grasp a parking brake cable or equalizer and pull back approximately 25.4 mm (1 in.)
7. While holding the cable or equalizer, pull the parking brake handle to the full upright position.
8. Raise console to access rear window switch and disconnect the wire connector.
9. Lift console to access power outlet wire connector and disconnect.
10. Lift console upward over gear selector and park brake handle.
11. Remove console from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Keeping your hands clear of the automatic adjuster sector and pawl area, firmly grasp the parking brake lever pin punch (drill bit or locking pin if a new mechanism has been installed), then quickly remove it from the parking brake lever mechanism. This will allow the park brake lever mechanism to automatically adjust the parking brake cables.
2. Position center console in vehicle.

3. Connect power outlet connector and power window switch connector.
4. Install center console and mounting screws.
5. Install rear window switch panel.
6. Cycle the parking brake lever once to position the parking brake cables, then return the parking brake lever its released position.
7. Install shift lever knob, if vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission.
8. Remove the block from the rear wheels and check the rear wheels of the vehicle. They should rotate freely without dragging with the lever in its released position.
9. Remove blocks from front wheels and tires.
10. Apply parking brake.
