Exterior Moulding / Trim: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

CAUTION: Replacement of the header molding retaining clips is required anytime a header molding is reinstalled. Failure to replace the snap-type retaining clips can result in poor header molding retention.

1. Lower the convertible top.

2. Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent, remove the windshield header molding by releasing the eleven snap retainers (one at a time) from the windshield opening frame.

NOTE: When replacement of the snap-type retaining clips is required, make sure NOT to damage the retainer towers on the back of the header molding. Damage to the towers will require replacement of the header molding.

If the windshield header molding is to be reused, remove and discard the eleven snap retainers from the molded plastic towers on the back of the molding.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Replacement of the header molding retaining clips is required anytime a header molding is reinstalled. Failure to replace the snap-type retaining clips can result in poor header molding retention.

NOTE: Two different design header moldings are used. Each of these header moldings require different style retaining clips. Header molding design is identified by the part number suffix. Header moldings with suffix "AF" or earlier use the original design retaining clip. Header moldings with suffix "AG" or later use the new design retaining clip. These clips are NOT interchangeable. Make sure to use the correct style snap-type retaining clips when reinstalling an original header molding.

1. If reinstalling the original header molding, install eleven new snap retainers onto the back of the molding (Header Molding).
2. Position the header molding to the windshield opening frame.
3. Engage the snap retainers that secure the header molding to the windshield opening frame. Start at the center of the molding and work outward using the palm of your hand to fully engage the retainers to the frame.
4. Lower the convertible top.
