SUBJECT:
Glass Frozen To Door Beltline Weatherstrip
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing revised door beltline weatherstrips.
MODELS:
2005 - 2006 (PT) Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
In freezing temperatures the door glass may not "smart drop" because it is frozen to the outer beltline weatherstrip. When the door is closed the glass may stay outside of the roof, not sealed.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle operator describes the Symptom/Condition, perform the Repair Procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED:
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Open both front doors.
2. Raise the hood and disconnect and isolate the negative battery terminal.
3. Remove the rear view mirror flag trim piece.
4. Use the procedures outlined in TechCONNECT 23 - Door-Front/Trim Panel/Removal/Front Door Trim Panel to remove the front door trim panel.
5. Remove the screw at the rear of the outer belt weatherstrip attaching the weatherstrip to the door.
6. Separate the weatherstrip from the door and discard the weatherstrip.
7. Install the appropriate revised outer belt weatherstrip to the door and secure with the attaching screw removed in step 5.
8. Use the procedures outlined in TechCONNECT 23 - Door-Front/Trim Panel/Installation/Front Door Trim Panel to install the front door trim panel.
9. Install the rear view mirror flag trim piece.
10. Repeat steps 3-9 for the other side outer belt weatherstrip.
11. Connect the negative battery terminal and set the clock to the correct time.
