C1042-RIGHT FRONT TONE WHEEL PERFORMANCE

- When Monitored:

With the ignition on.

- Set Condition:

When the Anti-Lock Brake Module detects periodic drops of a WSS signal.





Diagnostic Test

1. CHECK FOR A DTC C1042-RIGHT FRONT TONE WHEEL PERFORMANCE

NOTE: This DTC must be active for the results of this test to be valid.

Turn the ignition on.

With the scan tool, read the DTC's.

With the scan tool, read and record Environmental Data to help identify the conditions in which the DTC was set.

With the scan tool, erase DTC's.

Cycle the ignition switch off then on.

WARNING: TO avoid possible serious or fatal injury, check brake capability is available before road testing.

Test drive the vehicle in a straight line to 25 mph (40 km/h).

NOTE: Vehicle must be driven above 25 mph (40 km/h) for set conditions to be met.

With the scan tool, read DTCs.

Does the scan tool display: C1042-RIGHT FRONT TONE WHEEL PERFORMANCE active?

Yes

- Go To 2

No

- Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Component Tests and General Diagnostics

2. CHECK THE RIGHT FRONT TONE WHEEL FOR DAMAGE

NOTE: Check the tone wheel teeth for missing teeth, metal debris, cracks, or looseness. Teeth should be perfectly square, not bent, or nicked. Check sensor for metal debris

Check the Right Front Tone Wheel/Sensor for damage.

Check the Right Front Tone Wheel/Sensor for dirt or metal.

Was the tone wheel dirty?

Yes

- Clean tone wheel and sensor. Clear codes and retest.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test

No

- Replace the Right Front Tone Wheel in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform ABS VERIFICATION TEST. ABS Verification Test
