ASSEMBLY-LATCH

REMOVAL




1. Position the folding convertible top to allow access to the latch system.
2. Loosen the set screw that secures the D-handle to the handle base plate and remove the handle and its washer.
3. Remove the twelve screws (1) that secure the canopy cover (2) to the front header.
4. Remove the canopy cover adhesive tape from the front header edges and remove the cover from the header.




5. Remove the tension from the tension cable (1) and disengage the cable from the spring (2).




6. Remove the three clips (1) that secure the tension cable (2) to each side of the canopy cover and fold the cover back to the B-bow.




7. Remove the nine screws that secure the front header trim panel (2) to the header (1) and remove the trim panel.

NOTE: Place a reference mark along the outer edge of the latch hook base plates to ensure they are reinstalled to their original positions.




8. Mark the position of each latch hook base plate (2).
9. Remove the three screws (1) that secure each latch hook base plate.
10. Remove the four screws (3) that secure the latch handle base plate (4) and remove the latch assembly.

INSTALLATION




1. Position the latch assembly onto the folding convertible top.
2. Install the four screws that secure the latch handle base plate to the header. Tighten the screws securely.
3. Align each latch hook base plate (2) to the previously marked bracket locations.
4. Install the three screws that secure each latch hook base plate to the header. Make sure the position of the brackets align with each previously marked location. Tighten the screws securely.
5. If required, adjust the latch hook in relation to the dowel pin with the ball socket. The center line of the dowel pin to the center line of the 10 mm (0.39 in) diameter roller is 44.90 mm (1.77 in).




6. Position the trim panel (2) onto the front header (1) and install the nine retaining screws. Tighten the screws securely.




7. Reposition the canopy cover and install the three clips (1) that secure the tension cable (2) to each side of the canopy cover.




8. Install the tension cable (1) onto the spring (2).




9. Install the canopy cover adhesive tape to the front header edges.
10. Install the twelve screws (1) that secure the canopy cover to front header (2).
11. Install the D-handle and washer and secure it with the set screw. Tighten the set screw securely.
12. Close the folding top and verify that the dowel pins are properly aligned with the dowel pin receptacles in the windshield frame mounted strikers.
