Rear Suspension

BAR-STABILIZER

REMOVAL

NOTE: Before proceeding, Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Raise and support the vehicle.





2. On both sides of the vehicle, remove the wheel mounting nuts (3), then the rear tire and wheel assembly.





3. On both sides of the vehicle, remove the nut from the end of each link bolt fastening the rear stabilizer bar (2) to the link (1). Pull the bolt out far enough to free the stabilizer bar.





4. While holding the rear stabilizer bar, remove the bolts (3) securing the stabilizer bar cushion retainers (1) to the rear axle (2). Lift each retainer from the slot in the axle and remove the stabilizer bar from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION





NOTE: Install the stabilizer bar (2), cushions (3) and retainers (4) on the vehicle as an assembly.

1. If removed, install the cushions and retainers on the stabilizer bar.





2. Hook the lower ends of the cushion retainers (1) in the slot in the rear of the axle (2), then rotate the opposite end of the retainers upward so the mounting bolts (3) can be installed.
3. Install a mounting bolt (3) though each cushion retainer (1), into the threads in the rear axle (2). Tighten the retainer bolts to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.).

NOTE: Stabilizer bar link fasteners need to be tightened to specifications when the vehicle is at curb height.





4. Install a stabilizer bar link bolt and nut attaching each end of the stabilizer bar (2) to a link. Do not tighten the bolts at this time.





5. On both sides of the vehicle, install the tire and wheel assembly (1). Install and tighten wheel mounting nuts (3) to 135 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Tighten the stabilizer bar link bolts to 65 Nm (48 ft. lbs.).
