NUMBER: 08-066-05

GROUP: Electrical

DATE: December 10, 2005

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING PROVIDED IN ADVANCE. DO NOT ORDER PARTS OR PERFORM ANY ACTIONS RELATED TO THIS BULLETIN UNTIL JANUARY 4, 2006.

SUBJECT:
Hazard Flasher Lamps And/Or Instrument Cluster Turn Indicator Lamps Flash Once

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the Accessory Switch Bank Module (ASBM).

MODELS:

2006 (PT) Chrysler PT Cruiser/Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to 1/31/06

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may see the exterior hazard flasher lamps and/or the instrument cluster turn signal indicator lamps flash once when unlocking the vehicle (this is not to be confused with the hazard flasher lamp flash when the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system is used to unlock the vehicle), placing the key in the ignition switch, or opening a door after the vehicle has been "OFF" for approximately 45 seconds or longer. The ASBM has been found to send out one false "Hazard Switch Pressed" message over the LIN data bus when the bus becomes "awake", this causes the hazard lamps to flash once. The condition occurs randomly.

DIAGNOSIS:

If customer describes this condition, replace the ASBM.
