WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supplemental restraint system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the supplemental restraint system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.
NOTE: The Light Emitting Diode (LED) and printed circuit board for these lamps are serviced only as a unit with the courtesy lamp assembly. If any part of these lamps is damaged or ineffective, the entire lamp assembly must be replaced.
1. Insert the courtesy lamp pigtail wire and connector (1) through the mounting hole in the lower edge of the instrument panel.
2. Align the flat on one side of the courtesy lamp housing (3) with the flat side of the instrument panel mounting hole.
3. Firmly and evenly push the lamp upward into the mounting hole until the two retainer tabs (2) integral to the courtesy lamp housing snap into place above the mounting hole.
4. Reach behind and above the outboard end of the instrument panel near the cowl side to reconnect the courtesy lamp pigtail wire connector to the instrument panel wire harness connector.
5. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
