Disassembly
DISASSEMBLY
1. Remove differential side bearings:
a. Install button 8491-1 to differential case (Figure 1).
b. Set up Tool 5048 (5048-1, -4, -6) as shown in (Figure 2).
c. Remove differential side bearing (Figure 3). Same procedure/tools work for both sides.

2. Remove ring gear-to-case bolts (Figure 4) and remove ring gear.

3. Using three ring gear bolts as forcing screws (Figure 5), separate differential support from case (Figure 6).

4. Remove side gear thrust washer (Figure 7).

5. Remove side gear (Figure 8).

6. Remove long pinion shaft (Figure 9).

7. Remove both short pinion shafts (Figure 10).

8. Remove pinion shaft retainer (Figure 11).

9. Remove four pinion gears and thrust washers (Figure 12).

10. Remove side gear (Figure 13).
