Installation - Convertible
INSTALLATION - CONVERTIBLE
1. Position the header and A-pillar weatherstrip (3) to the header retainer located on the top of the windshield opening frame (1).
2. Install the two screws (2) that secure each side of the header and A-pillar weatherstrip to the top of the windshield opening frame. Tighten the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.).
3. Install the header and A-pillar weatherstrip to the A-pillar retainers located on each side of the windshield opening frame.
4. Install the push-pin retainer (4) that secures each side of the header and A-pillar weatherstrip to the windshield opening frame.
5. Install the header and A-pillar weatherstrip to each door opening flange.
6. Install the door sill trim plateDoor Sill Scuff Plate - Installation.
7. Position each A-pillar molding (2) to the windshield opening frame.
8. Engage the snap retainers that secure each A-pillar molding to the windshield opening frame. Make sure the retainers are fully engaged to the frame.
9. Install the screw (1) that secure each A-pillar molding to the windshield opening frame. Tighten the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.).
CAUTION: Replacement of the header molding retaining clips is required anytime a header molding is reinstalled. Failure to replace the snap-type retaining clips can result in poor header molding retention.
NOTE: Two different design header moldings are used. Each of these header moldings require different style retaining clips. Header molding design is identified by the part number suffix. Header moldings with suffix "AF" or earlier use the original design retaining clip. Header moldings with suffix "AG" or later use the new design retaining clip. These clips are NOT interchangeable. Make sure to use the correct style retaining clips when reinstalling an original header molding.
10. If reinstalling the original header molding (1), install eleven new snap clips onto the molding.
11. Position the header molding to the windshield opening frame (2).
12. Engage the snap retainers that secure the header molding to the windshield opening frame. Make sure the retainers are fully engaged to the frame.
13. Raise the convertible top. Make sure the header and A-pillar weatherstrip is sealing properly and does not interfere with door and convertible top operation.
