Regenerative Brake System (RBS)

REGENERATIVE BRAKE SYSTEM

The regenerative brake system is used on the 5.7L hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). This system incorporates the entire ESP(R) (Electronic Stability Program) system and adds multiple components and functionality. The module replaces the antilock brake system (ABS) module in combination with the hydraulic control unit (HCU) as with ESP(R).

The regenerative brake system uses the following components in addition to ESP(R) components:

- Active brake booster , consisting of:

- - Active booster solenoid
- - Booster travel sensor
- - Booster vacuum sensor
- - New style primary push rod (to brake pedal).
- Brake pedal simulator unit, consisting of:

- - Brake pedal angle sensor
- - Brake pedal simulator
- - Brake pedal simulator cut off solenoid
- Electric vacuum pump

Other components integral to the regenerative brake system that are base components of the HEV:

- Hybrid control processor (HCP)
- 2 Electric drive motors (internal to the transmission)
