Front Lamp Unit - Installation
LAMP
1. Position the front lamp unit (1) close enough to the front fender to access and reconnect three wire harness connections to the back of the lamp:
a. front park/turn signal bulb socket (2)
b. headlamp bulb (3)
c. side marker bulb socket (4)
2. Rearrange the wire harnesses as necessary to prevent them from becoming pinched between the back of the lamp housing and the fender.
3. Insert the stud (4) on the back of the lamp (5) into the hole in the reinforcement of the fender (5).
4. Align the ball stud (2) on the back of the lamp with the plastic grommet in the fender reinforcement.
5. Using hand pressure, press the lamp firmly and evenly rearward until the ball stud snaps into the grommet.
6. Install and tighten the two screws (1) that secure the top of the lamp to the upper inner reinforcement of the fender. Tighten the screws to 5.5 Nm (50 in. lbs.)
7. Reach through the front fender wheel house liner access opening to install and tighten the nut (6) that secures the stud on the back of the lamp to the fender reinforcement. Tighten the nut to 5 Nm (42 in. lbs.).
8. Position the lower edge of the access panel (1) to the lower edge of the access opening in the front fender liner (2).
9. Using hand pressure, press the lower edge of the access panel firmly and evenly into the access opening until it snaps back into place.
10. For the right front lamp unit on vehicles equipped with the optional Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) system only, reach behind the lamp to access and reinstall the tape that secures the convolute of the park/turn signal lamp wiring takeout to itself. This tape prevents the wiring convolute from rubbing against the cooling system hose in this area.
11. Reconnect the battery negative cable. On vehicles equipped with the optional Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) system, a technician trained in proper HEV service safety procedures must also reinstall the high voltage service disconnect into the high voltage battery pack.
12. Confirm proper headlamp alignment. Adjustments.
