Instrument Panel - Installation

INSTALLATION

NOTE: LHD model shown in illustrations. RHD model similar.






NOTE: On LHD models, route the gear shift cable thought the dash panel while positioning the instrument panel into the vehicle.

1. Position the instrument panel into the vehicle and engage the retaining tab (3) that secures each end of the instrument panel (4) to the cowl side panels (2).
2. Install the three bolts (1) that secure each end of the instrument panel to the cowl side panels. Tighten the bolts to 14 Nm (120 in. lbs.).
3. Connect the instrument panel wire harness connectors located below each end of the instrument panel and engage the wire harness retainer to the cowl panel.
4. Install the steering column Steering Column - Installation.
5. install the right and left side cowl trim panels Cowl Trim Panel - Installation.






NOTE: Right side shown. Left side similar.

6. Engage the retaining tab that secures the top of each instrument panel center support bracket (3) to the instrument panel support (1) and position each bracket to the floor panel (4).
7. Install the four bolts (2) that secure each instrument panel center support bracket to the instrument panel support and the floor panel. Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).
8. Reposition the carpet.





9. Loosely install the bolt (1) that secures the passenger side end of the HVAC housing to the underside of the instrument panel support.





10. Loosely install the bolt (1) that secures the passenger side of the HVAC air distribution housing (4) to the underside of the instrument panel support (3).
11. Connect the instrument panel wire harness to the HVAC wire harness connector (2).





12. Loosely install the bolt (1) that secures the driver side of the HVAC air distribution housing (2) to the underside of the instrument panel support (3).





13. Loosely install the bolt (1) that secures the HVAC housing (2) to the front of the instrument panel support (3).
14. Tighten all of the bolts that secure the HVAC housing to the instrument panel support to 3 Nm (27 in. lbs.).





15. Install the occupant restraint controller (ORC) Occupant Restraint Controller - Installation.
16. Position the instrument panel console (1) to the instrument panel and connect the wire harness connectors (3) to the back of the console.
17. Install the six plastic retainers (2) that secure the instrument panel console to the instrument panel.
18. On LHD models, install the front floor console Floor Console - Installation.
19. On RHD models, install the cover to the floor mounted gear selector.





20. Engage the retaining tabs that secure the knee blocker (2) to the instrument panel support (1).
21. Install the four screws (3) that secure the knee blocker to the instrument panel support. Tighten the bolts to 4 Nm (35 in. lbs.) in the following sequence:
- Upper outboard
- Upper inboard
- Lower outboard
- Lower inboard





22. Install the screws (3) that secure the knee blocker cover (2) to the driver side of the instrument panel (1). Tighten the screws securely.






NOTE: Right side shown. Left side similar.

23. Position the right and left side instrument panel end caps (1) to the instrument panel (2) and engage the retaining tabs that secure the end caps to the instrument panel. Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged.





24. Install the seven bolts (2) that secure the front of the instrument panel (1) to the top of the dash panel (3). Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm (80 in. lbs.).





25. Install the two screws (1) that secure the defroster duct (2) to the top of the instrument panel cover (3). Tighten the screws to 2 Nm (17 in. lbs.).





26. Engage the retaining tabs (2) that secure the front of the instrument panel top cover (1) to the top of the instrument panel (3).
27. Engage the retaining tabs that secure the rear of the instrument panel top cover to the instrument panel. Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged.
28. Connect the wire harness connectors located at the A-pillars and engage the instrument panel wire harness retainers to the A-pillars. Make sure the wire retainers are fully engaged.
29. Install the left and right side A-pillar trim panels A-Pillar Trim Panel - Installation.





30. If equipped, position the silencer (3) to the passenger side of the instrument panel (2) and install the push-pin retainers (1).
31. On LHD models, connect the gearshift cable to the transaxle and bracket in the engine compartment Shift Cable - Installation.
32. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
