Heated Mirrors - Operation

OPERATION

When equipped, the heated mirrors are activated when the rear window defogger (EBL) system is turned on. When the EBL system is activated, an electric grid located behind the glass of each outside rear view mirror becomes energized and produces heat to help clear the mirror surface of ice, snow, or fog Heated Glass - Operation.

If both outside mirror heating grids are inoperative, test the EBL system for proper operation Testing and Inspection. If only one outside mirror heating grid is inoperative, most likely the concern lies with the mirror itself.

The heating grid behind the outside rear view mirror glass cannot be repaired and the glass must be replaced if the heating grid is inoperative Outside Rearview Mirror - Removal.
