Body - Sliding Door Won't Latch Open

SUBJECT:
Sliding Door Will Not Latch In The Full Open Position

OVERVIEW:
This involves inspecting the right and/or left sliding door operation and if necessary adjusting the sliding door latch position.

MODELS:

2009 - 2010 (RI) Town & Country/Grand Caravan

NOTE:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built before April 30, 2010 (MDHO43OXX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may experience the sliding door on the right and/or left side not latching in the full open position. This will return the door to the full closed position.

DIAGNOSIS:

1. Open the right and/or left sliding door to the full open position. Does the sliding door stay in the full open (latched) position?

a. Yes >> Further diagnosis required, this bulletin does not apply.

b. No >> Proceed to the repair procedure.





PARTS REQUIRED:

NOTE:
4 Washers are needed for each latch bracket.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Remove the sliding door scuff plate on the right and/or left side. Refer to the detailed removal procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT >: Service Info > 23-Body > Interior > PLATE, Scuff, Sliding Door > Removal.

2. Remove the bolts shown in (Fig. 2 ) number 1 to slightly lower the latch bracket.

3. Stack two washers and install them between the floor and the latch bracket at each bolt location (Fig. 2 ) number 2.

4. Re-install the latch bracket bolts and verify the sliding door will latch in the full open position by opening and closing the door 5 times.

5. Re-install the sliding door scuff plate. Refer to the detailed installation procedures available in DealerCONNECT > TechCONNECT > : Service Info > 23-Body > Interior > PLATE, Scuff, Sliding Door > Installation.

6. Return the vehicle to the customer
