The special tool 997 is used to isolate the antenna system to diagnose the cause of poor AM/FM radio reception.

1. Using special tool 9977 replace the instrument panel cable and antenna mast. Test the radio reception. If ok refer to 2. If not OK replace the radio. Radio - Removal.
2. Using special tool replace the antenna mast and test the radio reception. If OK replace the antenna. Antenna Mast - Removal. If not OK 3.
3. Using the special tool replace the instrument panel cable and test the radio reception. If OK replace the instrument panel cable. Instrument Panel Antenna Cable - Removal.
