SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Engine hesitation on medium acceleration from idle.

DIAGNOSIS

If vehicle exhibits the symptom described above and has Hose Routing Label PN 4227725, proceed to repair procedure outlined below.. This bulletin procedure does not apply to vehicles with Hose Routing Label PN 4139816.
REPAIR PROCEDURE

Parts Required: Driveability Package PN 4293788 contains the following components:

1 - Vacuum Delay valve PN 4173433
2 - Hose Connectors PN 3870264
1 - Hose Routing Label PN 4179816

Must be ordered separately:

1 - Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086

Installation Procedure

1. Cut out a 4 inch section from the EGR vacuum hose 12 inches from the EGR valve end of hose.

2. Cut two 1-1/2 inch sections of 3/16 inch Vacuum Hose PN 3780507 (serviced in 50 foot rolls).

3. Install the 1-1/2 inch sections of 3/16 inch hose on the Vacuum Delay Valve PN 4173433 supplied in package.
4. Install the Hose Connectors PN 3870264 supplied, in the ends of the delay valve-hose assembly.

5. Install the delay valve assembly in place of the vacuum hose section removed from the EGR valve vacuum line in Step
1. Be sure the orange end of the delay valve is oriented toward the EGR valve (see Figure 1).

6. Type the follwoing information on the "Authorized Modification Label" PN 4275086 (see Figure 2).

^ Installed Driveability Package PN 4293788.

^ Change Authority - TSB 14-07-83

^ Your dealer code.

^ Date package is installed.

Install the Authorized Modification Label next to the VECI label.

7. Wipe existing hose routing label clean. Install Hose Routing Label PN 4179816 supplied in package over the original label.
