Engine block heaters are a popular dealer installed accessory. Some questions have been asked by dealers regarding the correct installation procedures in the 2.2L engine. Use the following procedures for correct installation.

1. Drain the coolant from the radiator and the block.

2. Using a long screwdriver or punch, knock the center rear core hole plug sideways.. Use pliers to remove the plug.

CAUTION: Do not leave the core plug in the water jacket if it should inadvertently fall into the jacket. If left in the jacket, the plug may restrict coolant and result in engine overheating.

3. Clean the machined hole to remove burrs, adhesive, etc.

4. Loosen the screw on the heater element by hand to its limit.

5. Lubricate the O-ring with Mopar Lubriplate or similar lubricant.
