SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Subject model vehicles built before February 21, 1983 (MDH 02-21-XX) may exhibit the following two driveability conditions:

1. An acceleration sag following a short closed throttle deceleration.

2. Rough engine idle immediately following a hot soak restart.

NOTE: This service procedure only applies to vehicles with ESA/EFC module part numbers 5213834 and 5213838.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove original ESA/EFC module and install appropriate replacement ESA/EFC selected from parts chart above.

2. Start engine and allow to fully warm up.

3. Check and reset basic timing if necessary to VECI label specifications.

4. Type the following information on Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086 (Figure 1).

Top Section

"Installed replacement ESA/EFC Module PN (see parts chart and type in appropriate part number on label)."

Lower Section

Change Authority - TSB 14-11-83.

Dealer Code - your dealer code.

Date - date this service performed.

5. Install label next to or near original VECI label.
