SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Engine run-on (dieseling) may occur on subject models after hot engine shut down.
Condition will happen most often after engine shut down while hot restart timer is holding throttle open.
DIAGNOSIS
Allow engine to reach full operating temperature and turn off key. (If engine diesels at this time continue to repair procedure.)
Restart engine and allow to run for 10 seconds only and turn key off. If engine diesels proceed to repair procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED
If solekicker is stamped "4" use Package PN 4293882 which contains the following components:
1 - Solekicker - .040" Stroke NPN
1 - Insulator (comes assembled to single connector PN 4124686
on solekicker)
1 - Throttle Stop Speed Screw NPN
1 - Throttle Stop Speed Screw Spring NPN
2 - Tie Wraps NPN
If solekicker is stamped "55" use Package PN 4293881 which contains the following components:
1 - Solekicker - .055" Stroke NPN
1 - Insulator (comes assembled to single connector PN 4124686
on solekicker)
1 - Throttle Stop Speed Screw NPN
1 - Throttle Stop Speed Screw Spring NPN
2 - Tie Wraps NPN
Must be ordered separately:
1 - Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086
Note that the packages are identical except for the solekicker stroke length.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
Installation Procedure
1. Carefully remove and save secondary throttle return spring (Figure 1). Remove vacuum line from solekicker.
2. Remove the vacuum throttle kicker from carburetor. Use an 11 mm socket wrench.
FIGURE 2:
3. Check the stroke identification number on top of the idle rpm adjusting screw on the removed solekicker (it will be stamped "4" or "55") (Figure 2).
Select and install from the parts list the correct stoke solekicker package. If stamped "4" use PN 4293882. If stamped "55" use PN 4293881.
4. Remove and save the wire guide loop from carburetor and nylon vacuum line.
FIGURE 3-A:
5. Remove the violet colored throttle ground wire (N3 circuit) from the carburetor connector.
6. Remove the tan wire (J2 circuit - may have an 18 gauge black with white tracer wire double crimped to the tan wire on some carburetors) from the carburetor connector (Figure 3-A).
It will be necessary to cut both tie wraps on convoluted tube before removing wires.
NOTE: T-110 TRUCKS WITH FEDERAL EMISSIONS WILL NOT BE EQUIPPED WITH THE TAN WIRE.
FIGURE 3-B:
7. Install Insulator, PN 4124686, from parts list on J2 circuit blade connector removed from carburetor connector in Step 6 and connect to red pigtail wire from solekicker (Figure 3-B).
8. Insert bare blade terminal on red solekicker wire in vacated connector cavity for J2 circuit (Figure 3-B).
FIGURE 4:
9. Insert all wires from solenoid to connector in convoluted tubing. Leave the single connector pigtail outside the convoluted tubing.
10. Fold the single connector back along the convoluted tubing and tie wrap in place using one Tie Wrap, PN 4293893, from package. Trim off excess length of tie wrap (Figure 4).
11. Install the second tie wrap from package over the larger diameter convoluted tubing adjacent to the wire guide loop. Trim off excess length of tie wrap.
12. Reconnect carburetor wiring to wiring harness and vacuum line to solekicker. Connect vacuum line to solekicker vacuum diaphragm nipple.
FIGURE 1:
13. Carefully reinstall secondary throttle return spring on lever and grooved stud, which is also the solekicker bracket retaining screw (Figure 1).
FIGURE 5:
14. Install throttle stop speed screw and spring from package in threaded boss on main body of carburetor near primary throttle lever (Figure 5).
15. Open throttle and manually open choke blade fully. Turn throttle stop speed screw clockwise until it just contacts throttle lever.
Turn throttle stop speed screw 1/4 turn clockwise after contacting the throttle lever. This completes throttle stop speed screw adjustment (Figure 5).
16. Apply a thin film of Multi-Purpose Grease, PN 2932524, or Hi-Temp Grease, PN 3837794, to surface of solekicker terminal which contacts throttle lever.
17. Start engine and allow to run until engine is fully warmed up. Adjust curb idle speed to VECI label specification.
