Intake Manifold Replacement
REMOVAL
1. Remove under cover side panel. Refer to Body and Frame.
2. Release fuel pressure. Refer to Powertrain Management.
3. Follow removal steps outlined in the illustrations noting the following.
4. Remove the power steering oil pump with the hose attached.
NOTE: Suspend the removed power steering oil pump (by using wire or similar material) at a place where no damage will be caused during removal/installation of the intake manifold.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal steps in reverse order noting the following.
2. Install the intake manifold gasket with protrusions in the position illustrated.
3. Tighten the intake manifold mounting nuts one bank after the other by the following procedure.
a. Tighten the nuts in the front bank to 7 Nm (5.1 ft. lbs.).
b. Tighten the nuts in the rear bank to 20 - 23 Nm (14 - 17 ft. lbs.).
c. Tighten the nuts in the front bank to 20 - 23 Nm (14 - 17 ft. lbs.).
d. Repeat steps (b) and (c) one more time respectively.
4. Install the plenum gasket protrusions in the position illustrated.
5. Perform accelerator cable adjustment. Refer to Powertrain Management.
6. Check for fuel leaks.
7. Adjust drive belt tension.
